Max, the bravest lynx

Max, the Bravest Lynx is a popular science story in English based on real-life events from the LIFE Lynx project, which brought lynxes from Romania and Slovakia to Slovenia in 2023.

Told from Max's perspective, the story follows his journey from birth to an accident in which he broke his leg, recovery in Slovakia, transport to Slovenia, time spent in an adaptation enclosure, release into the wild, meetings with other lynxes, searching for a mate, crossing a motorway, and encounters with hunting dogs and hunters.

The book also highlights the efforts of the international LIFE Lynx team from Slovenia, Italy, Croatia, Romania, and Slovakia to prevent the extinction of the Eurasian lynx – Europe's largest wild cat and a key species for maintaining natural balance in deer populations.

The story is enriched with illustrations by Ana Šerbelj and 20 colour documentary photographs. The content has been reviewed and approved by experts from the LIFE Lynx project and the Slovenia Forest Service.

Written in clear and accessible English, this book is especially suitable for upper primary school students and anyone learning English at a basic or intermediate level.
